RECIPE

Creamy, One-Pan Garlic and Paprika Shrimp

Ingredients

For the Shrimp:
  • 1 finely chopped red bell pepper
  • 6 minced garlic cloves
  • 1 finely chopped medium onion
  • 30 halved red cherry tomatoes
  • 1 finely chopped bunch of cilantro
  • 1 pound of shrimp (de-skinned and de-veined)
  • 2 teaspoons of salt
  • 1 teaspoon of ground black pepper
  • 3 teaspoons of smoked paprika
  • 3 teaspoons of extra virgin olive oil
  • 1/2 cup of tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon of dried oregano
  • 1/4 teaspoon of cayenne pepper
  • 1 cup of chicken broth
  • 1/2 cup of heavy whipping cream

Directions

For the Shrimp:
  1. In a large bowl, add the cleaned shrimp (1 lb.) and combine with seasoning until evenly incorporated: salt (1 tsp.), ground black pepper (1 tsp.), and smoked paprika (2 tsps.)
  2. In a 12″ frying pan over medium-high heat, add olive oil (2 tsps.)
  3. When the olive oil is heated, add the shrimp to the pan with none of them overlapping the other to ensure both sides are browned thoroughly
  4. Fry for 3 minutes on one side, and then flip each shrimp to fry for another minute on the other side
  5. Then remove the shrimp and set aside in a clean bowl
  6. In the same pan, add the onion (1), red bell pepper (1), and olive oil (1 tsp.)
  7. Sauté until softened and then add garlic (6 cloves) and red cherry tomatoes (30 halved)
  8. Then add tomato paste (1/2 cup), dried oregano (1 tsp.), cayenne pepper (1/4 tsp.), and smoked paprika (1 tsp.)
  9. Using a wooden spoon, mix everything together and sauté for 2 minutes
  10. Then add the chicken broth (1 cup) and heavy whipping cream (1/2 cup)
  11. Blend the sauces together once thickened until it is smooth and creamy. For this step you can use a handheld blender or a table-top machine
  12. Then serve the sauce in a bowl or over rice, and then place the sautéed shrimp on top with cilantro
