Are you looking for a quick and easy meal to satisfy your seafood cravings?

Look no further than this recipe for pan-seared tuna steaks with caper pepper relish. This dish is not only simple to make, but it is packed with flavor and healthy nutrients.

To start, prepare the caper pepper relish by mixing together olive oil, parsley, capers, roasted & marinated red pepper, minced garlic, lemon zest, and lemon juice. Allow the relish to sit for 20 minutes to set and marinate.

Next, take a paper towel and dab the tuna steaks dry on both sides. Sprinkle each side with salt to taste.

Heat a large skillet on medium heat with oil. After 5 minutes, add the tuna steaks on either side face-down onto the skillet over the oil. Cook for a total of 8 minutes. Once the tuna steaks are cooked to your desired level of doneness, remove them from the skillet and allow them to rest for 10 minutes. This will allow the juices to redistribute within the steak, resulting in a tender and juicy piece of fish.

Finally, serve the tuna steaks with prepared caper pepper relish on top. The combination of the savory and slightly salty tuna steaks with the tangy and herbaceous relish is the perfect pairing. Not only is this dish tasty, but it is also loaded with healthy nutrients such as omega-3 fatty acids and protein.

Overall, this recipe for pan-seared tuna steaks with caper pepper relish is a must-try for seafood lovers looking for a quick and easy meal that packs a punch in flavor and nutrition.

  • 1 and 1/2 teaspoon of salt
  • 2 tablespoons of olive oil, avocado oil, or grapeseed oil

Directions

For the Relish and Tuna Steaks:
  1. In a medium-sized bowl, add the relish ingredients including the olive oil (3 tablespoons), parsley (3 tablespoons), capers (2 tablespoons), roasted & marinated red pepper (1/2 pepper), garlic (2 minced cloves), lemon zest (1 teaspoon), lemon juice (2 tablespoons)
  2. Mix the relish until evenly incorporated and leave aside to set for 20 minutes
  3. Take a paper towel and dab the tuna steaks dry on both sides
  4. Season both sides of the tuna steaks with salt
  5. In a large skillet (at least 12-inches), add oil (2 tablespoons) and set to medium heat

  7. For well-done, cook for 2 minutes on the first side of each steak and then use tongs to flip them
  8. During the cooking process, frequently use tongs to carefully move around the tuna steaks in the pan either clockwise or counter-clockwise so that the oil does not pool around them
  9. Cook the other side of each steak for another 2 minutes
  10. Flip again with tongs to get a darker sear on the first side of each steak for another 2 minutes
  11. Flip again to darken the sear on the second side of each steak for another 2 minutes
  12. Remove the tuna steaks and let them rest for 10 minutes
  13. Then serve with the caper pepper relish
